I have been here for a whole month today

So I finally have a little bit of time to write on this. It's been crazyyyy busy.
This is my weekly schedule:

Monday- We work all day, come back for dinner, and then at 8 we have Monday Night Live which is just like a Campus Crusade meeting. After that, we all go to Marianne's for ice cream! Curfew is at 11:30 Monday-Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday

Tuesday- We wake up and have reflection time in the morning which is just free time we get to work on whatever we need to work on. In our bible study, we are going through Experiencing Christ Within by Dwight Edwards, so usually we will all work on that for the week. After reflection time, we have lunch, and then a free afternoon to do laundry, clean, meet with our discipler. Then we all work night shifts which is usually 5:30-12:30 for me. It varies a little for everyone.

Wednesday- We work all day, come back for dinner, and then we have our Action Groups, or our bible study, from 8-10. I loveeeee my action group. I live with 2 of the girls and then the other 3 live beside us in the next room. Our leader is such a blessing too so I have really enjoyed that time and digging into God's Word.

Thursday- We work all day, but then have free night! yay. So we do dinner on our own and go do something fun. Curfew is till 1 am on Thursday and Friday nights.

Friday- We have a training classes for ministry on how to lead bible study, disciple, or anything that involves getting stuff started with Crusade and then eat lunch at the Pan. Then we have whatever we wanna do during the afternoons and work that night. After next week, that morning will open because all the staff leaves on July 9. The staff passed down their leadership positions to the students here to lead. It's going to be so awesome.

Saturday- We work all day and then come back for dinner here and then have some sort of outreach that night. Last week we had a luau party and invited all of our co-workers. The weeks before we did outreach on the beach or downtown by just walking up to people and talking to them about who God is.

Sunday- We all go to our churches we were assigned to go to, then after the service we all serve in the church someway. I am in the nursery which has helped me with my servant's heart. We have lunch on our own (but usually I come back here and eat leftovers) and then we will have random ministry things planned in the afternoon or just have free time. At night dinner is also on your own and then we have committee meetings. Everyone on project was split into a committee. I am on the prayer committee so we lead different prayer meetings, prayer events, devotions or anything consisting of that. There are other comittees such as outreach, social, house management, monday meetings, etc.

And then I always get one of those days off from work. Last week I had off thursday so I laid out, read, went to the store, and just had some down time.

Summer Project has been so awesome. I live with 62 students, work, and get to share about God's love to everyone I encounter. It has also been a struggle though because it's hard living this far from home and being so busy and around people constantly. I have been sick for a while but God is healing me. I have to continue to seek the Lord and keep my eyes on him or else I fall or fail. I am learning so so much and building awesome friendships with everyone here, even though I miss everyone at home. I gotta work soon so I will write again when I can :)

Much love,
Allison

This is for you, Mom

So, I have had absolutely no time to do anything like call people, clean, nap, write in my blog.... but I am making time for this because my mom really wants me to. In fifteen minutes I am going to my job orientation. We are all just going to our job offices and doing paper work, getting our schedules, and uniforms.

Last monday, all the other students got here so there are now 62 students here and however many staff... like 15 or something. We have been going to meetings and orientation for the project, eating meals, and getting into groups or playing team building games to get to know everyone better. I am also in a small group bible study for the rest of the summer, so we have met a couple times. I am rooming with 2 other girls and we already love each other. We all went to Gap yesterday and bought the same dresses but in different colors to wear tonight when we go eat at the Winery. I also love my small group bible study. We all shared our stories and really got to know each other.

Tomorrow is my first official day of work. I am excited but a little nervous because I don't really know what I'm doing. haha, but I'll learn it easily probably :)

Oh yeah, funny story-- Wednesday we had "fun day" and we were all split into group of ten for a competitve game day. The first thing we had to do was come up with a cheer for our group. Well since we are staying at the Peter Pan Motel, we decided to be the Lost Boys from Peter Pan. One of the guys in our group was wearing all green like Peter Pan. We told him to climb on top of the roof and then run and jump off like he's Peter Pan... but all the guys in our group were going to catch him. (The building is a little over a storey high) Well, the staff guy made our group stand on the side not to where Peter was going to run off of, but we thought that he knew this also. When it was his cue to run over the roof, we weren't there to catch him... he came sprinting over the roof but then he noticed we weren't there so he tried to stop but the roof is slanted. He fell off the roof. Good thing he didn't get hurt!!! Now we all laugh about it.

The End

Actually in California

This is my second night being in Santa Cruz. I am finally in my motel room in the Peter Pan Motel. The project hasn't officially started yet, but about 12 students came 5 days early to help get everything set up before the other 50 people get here.

Yesterday we took out all of the mattresses and furniture in the motel rooms and cleaned lots of toilets. Today we assembled multiple bunk beds in each room and put the mattresses, cleaned off a ton of shelves, and put the rooms back together. I am learning more how to have a servant's heart.

I didn't sleep at all the night before I left. And yesterday and today, I have been going allll day. So far, I have walked the shore, been downtown twice, been on the boardwalk, and seen the sea lions under the pier. Well, it's called the Warf because its a pier that you can drive on.

Tomorrow morning, Evan and I are running to the lighthouse! woooo
And more labor work tomorrow.
I must sleep! Miss everyone

I went to the bookstore today. I am super excited about the new books I will be reading.

The Prodigal God by Tim Keller
Crazy Love by Francis Chan
Desiring God by John Piper

I'm learning that trusting in God makes life so much easier and happier :)

Puffy Cheeks

I would really love chicken fingers with ranch to dip them in and fries right now. I would consume them slowly so that I could enjoy every last chew. I would also love a BBQ sandwich from cook out, a big mac from mcdonalds, filet minion from the Angus Barn, and chocolate chip cookies. I need to eat real food. I am sick of pudding and Ensures.
